Text Box: CHAIRMAN’S REPORT    -    Mark McQuater
Dear Members,

The season is now coming to an end and I think the general feeling is that it has been another great year all round for all aspects of our club.  The club championships and summer leagues have really brought out the competitive side of many of you at all levels and created some great tennis.  The committee are particularly pleased how well the club sessions have also been attended this year.

As you will see we have made great strides with the new clubhouse, which is now built.  We are now working hard to complete the landscaping and fencing as well as the internal fixtures and fittings.  We hope to achieve all this before the AGM and commission this new facility as quickly as possible.

The AGM will be held at Shiplake Bowling Club on Tuesday 9th November and I hope as many of you as possible can make it along that evening to attend what is always an important evening.  It incorporates the Club Championship prizegiving and on this occasion will give all of us a chance to thank Sandra Greenslade, who is stepping down from the committee this year after many years of making an enormous contribution to our club.  If there are any other members who would like to join the committee, please let me know before nominations close on Tuesday, 26th October.

Finally, I would like to thank all the members of the Committee who have worked very hard this year and look forward to seeing you at the AGM, if you are able to make it.                                                                                                   Regards, Mark

Text Box: CLUBHOUSE  UPDATE

Homestead Timber Buildings Ltd has now completed the construction of the clubhouse building, including the installation of a toilet and kitchen, and has done a very good job.  The committee has had the interior painted and are now working hard to fit out the shell of the building with carpet tiles (and vinyl for the WC/changing area), additional kitchen & storage units, benches, noticeboards, etc. in order to commission the clubhouse very quickly.

Homestead will shortly commence phase two of the project, namely the landscaping and decking, removal of the trees and their replacement with beech hedging, fencing and the new access arrangements around the clubhouse and onto the courts together with making good the old clubhouse area.    All this work should be finished by the AGM at which time the date for an official opening can be announced.  We will then have a superb new club asset that will last for many years to come and of which the members can be really proud.
